Visit with Mom was fun. We ate out a lot (every meal except breakfast: I always forget that the breakfast gene is apparently recessive, which is why I am such a brekkiewhore or a brunchslut) and saw a lot of Southern Mississippi. We went to Gulfport, Biloxi, Ocean Springs, McComb, Laurel, the vicinity of Natchez, Port Gibson, and then to Jackson for a quick ride around the state capital and gubbner's manse. She bought me new school clothes, and my plan for assertiveness made up for horrible school shopping trips of teen-years past, and I also accepted the fact that I am almost thirty and my mom was buying me school clothes, which she hasn't done since I went off to college. It was weird. She insisted I get suit components, which are less dowdy than I thought they would be, although there is too much duplication in my wardrobe and not enough variety.
We went to a few museums, ate at a few places. We missed the living history village in Laurel, Mammy's cupboard south of Natchez, and a whole mess of plantations. And I crunked up the instructions to Leatha's AND the hours, so bbq was had at Chili's and it wasn't terribly awesome. Highlights included Windsor Ruins and some driving around, although the Trace wasn't as wonderful as I thought it would be, but maybe we didn't turn off at the right points.
I beat Moms twice at Scrabble, and then she and Mo had me beat at Trivial Pursuit (20th anniversary edition). She still likes the kitten Hugo better than Chubs. M and I watched the Vincent Price House of Wax which was ok, definitely not terrifying, but awesome because both Charles Bronson and Carolyn Jones were in it. Touch of Evil is better, and I'm only comparing those two because they came from Netflix at the same time.
Reading The Secret Garden as escapist comfort reading reminds me of misguided thesis topics and also that A? The? Little Princess is better, and actually, more akin to what I want to thes-ize.
Other frustrations are minor but must watch for flare-ups.
